How many of you remember Password, the word association game that was MC'd by Allen Ludden on CBS from 1961-67? syndication (reruns) from 1967-69 (or was it 1970?), ABC from 1971-75 where Allen won an emmy after cancellation and Password got the award for best game show in 1974,and for several months it had an all celebrity format before returning to the old, and NBC from 1979-82 as Password Plus. But Allen woul not do it until the end. In 1980, he was diagnosed with stomach cancer and in April and May 1980 Bill Cullen filled in on Password Plus while Geoff Edwards filled in on Chain Reaction on NBC. Then in 10/1980 Tom Kennedy replaced Allen on P+ and he ,Kennedy "took good care of Password',as Betty White said in her 1995 autobiography "Here We Go Again". P+ lasted until 3/1982 and then won an Emmy as Best Game Show.
Then in 1984, NBC revived P+ as Super Password with Bert Convy, fresh from his second run on Tattletales. SP ran on The Peacock until 3/1989.
I always loved that show and the game.
